Anyone replace a water pump on a 94-01 Ram 5.2l??? Mine just went out & im gonna pick up a new one tomorrow so i can tear into it tomorrow night. Just curious as to how much of a pain in the ass its going to be. My Chilton's Book says to remove the Radiator, yippie

Got off work around 6pm & got right home to start tearing into the truck. Took all of about 3 hrs, surprised the hell out of me too. Had to remove the Radiator & Shroud. Then i had to unbolt the A/C Compressor & Alternator so i could move them out of the way. Next i had to unbolt the huge bracket that held them just to finally be able to change the thermostat!!! Glad i bought one, cause i would have been pissed later on when that sucker went out & i could have changed it when i did the pump. Anyways i put in a 160 degree stat, just because i can. The old pump was shot. You could grab the front of the pulley & wiggle it around. I moved so much that the turbine inside was shaving down the metal. Not to mention the pulley on the outside started digging into the outside of the pump as well
I have the 5.9 and I just took the shroud off. Removing the fan was a pain in the ass but it went pretty good. The haynes manual says to remove it but oh well.
yeah the fan was a pain the ass for me too, got the cuts & scrapes to proove it lol. The radiator came out alot easier than i expected. once you get the shroud unbolted from it, its just 2 more bolts up top & then the tranny cooler lines & of course the Coolant Hoses. Then is should just lift right out
