Ok guys I need some help deciding on what set up will work best for me.
I own a 92 crew cab currently has a 5/7 western chassies drop, hay it was already on the truck... I have started to explore the idea of bagging my truck because frankly the look sick!!!
My concern is that my dually is my tow truck for my 31' Chris Cat Boat that has twin 502's and the 40' all steel trailer that it sits on, total weight close to 12k pounds! So I need a set up that is going to have enough lift to pick this heavy b!%*h up and tow it safely, some of the lakes we go to are 5-6 hrs a way and if I take it to the coast thats 11 hrs...
So what type of set up is going to give me the load capacity and lift I need while still giving me good enough ride quality to drive it to work everyday!!! And please explain why I am really trying to learn the benifits of different set ups..
Thanks!!!
Edit: Oh and for wheels and tires I am planning on running 22's with a narowed rear end so they tuck.

1 option for that. get the frame notched and run bag over axle. with that much weight to tow, anything else will have problems supporting the load. run some firestone 26c or slam re8 bags and you should have no problems. also, you will need a beefy 4 link setup. as for the front, just bag it and go. hope this helps, later, brian

Ya I agree with Brian, get some 8" slams for the back. Install them over the axle, and run a beefy four link. Throw some 7"er's in up front.
Just make sure all your stuff is made nice and thick, and welded tight, and you'll be good.

I had the same question when I started but the most important one was reliability!
I went with air ride technology! the bags are behind the axle so the lifting power is outstanding! the setup is like semi's. it doesn't get as low as most of the badass trucks on this site but well worth the money.

I also had the same wquestions when I did mine. Only I want to use mine to pull a 31' bumper pull travel trailer. I went with some slam re8's over the axle on the back. We just finished it this past sunday, so I havnt had a chance to pull the trailer yet. I can tell you that unloaded, it only takes 40 psi to get ride height on the back, which is cool.

I run the air ride tech bolt on 4 link. I used it alot towing 10000 lbs like it came from them. Then I body dropped it, same 4 link but built my own notch and added triple stack contitech bags between the rails behind the axle, great lift, rides better than the sleeve bags from art. I know tow a 31' travel trailer, 10,000+ lbs with my 600lb quad in the back. No problems at all. If you want picks of my setup I can get you some but not till next week

I forgot though art's setup wont bolt right in if you narrow your axle, you will end up relocating your gas tank and putting the bars inside the frame rails, not enough room on the outside. You may be able to get townastys from lockone that will tuck with stock rearend.

The thing may weigh a ton but the tongue weight is still probably not going to be over say 1400#. It should be 10 to 15 percent of the actual weight. To re8 over the axle figuring them to be a 2800# bag(they are actually a lot more than that). So double that and you get 5600#'s. I would say that is more than sufficient. I would run a four link with a panhard bar or watts link. I don't think triangulating it will give you enough side support. That's my .02

i would say parrallel 4 link with bags over or behind axle with re-8s, i think a panhard bar is a stronger set up. but a watts link works better.

Ok so it looks like a parallel set up with pan hard bar and the bags mounted over or behind axel seems like the way to go.
Next question....
I have an account with FBI and Street Beat Customs. Does either one have a stout enough set up??? Oh and I like to have it be a little over kill!!! I plan on doing a weld on kit incase anyone cares.
Any links and or other suggestions to a specific weld on kit would be great!
