on my 2000 chevy crew cab, i have a loss of power, like the truck just hesitates when accelerating. i have done all new fuel pump, regulator, cap and rotor, wires, fuel filter, and plugs new when i bought it in february. this just started last week out of the blue, and it is way worse when i am pulling my camper. do any of you guys run without cat. converters on your shitbox with the bigblock? i am leaning to my converters being clogged up. any else have any emmisions problem? thanks, brian
try cutting a small hole or drill a hole in the car right before you think there is the honeycomb, fire it up and test it by accelerating and such if it runs better then yup its cat if not weld up the hole sell it to me cheap and i can deal with it hahahah
how about we just trade cat converters, and you deal with it? hahaha. you still have cats on your truck? some say i will lose a lot of low end torque if i just remove them. what do you think? later, brian
ive hollowed out a few on like s10s and stuff. i cant imagine that you would loose any power since its just a giant obstruction in the exhaust. but it could be something to do with the computers too. if there isnt an o2 sensor after the cats than you should be fine.
my truck only has the o2 sensors in the front. none after the converters. i will hollow them out and see what happens. i mean it just feels like the truck is being choked down severly. i drove it today, and it is definatly getting worse. i will post results! later, brian
i would try the hole first before completely gutting it
how big of a hole do you think i should drill? i know they are not completly clogged, as exaust does get through. just under accleration, it hesitates real bad. if i drill a hole, do you think it will relieve it enough to notice? thanks, brian
run it iwith out the cats, you will be fine i didnt have any on my first dually and it pulled fine..
i will try it tommorrow! i hope it works. i dont want to repower it right now!!!
