i ground down the welds at the plate & re welded them just to be safe because of all the people the had them bend. mine seemed fine, but i didn't want to take the chance. i posted all about them for someone else in the toyota forum. here's the link http://www.streetsourcemag.com/forum/topic.aspx?method=reply&topic_id=90048&forum_id=20&forum_title=&M=True&S=True
good luck.

I've installed a few sets with no problems. (so far at least) If the weld is flexing, wouldn't it break pretty quick? Got a pic of what you are talking about?

I recently fixed a pair of uppers from BYC, they were off an S-10. The ball joint plate was butt welded inbetween the two tubes which isn't very strong. It cracked the ball joint plate through the bolt holes because it was flexing so much. Luckily nobody was hurt because the customer was driving his truck when the arm broke. I put them on a jig and built new ball joint plates and sleeved them into the tubes a few inches for strengh. He hasn't had a problem with them since.
