That's the way I remember it too. I thought it was bad as hell back then.

That was back in...'98-ish if I remember correctly. It had to be because I was 18. I had a Buddy who was graduating from boot camp out of Fort Sill IIRC. So his Mom, Grandma and I drove back to Oklahoma to be there for the ceremony. I picked up that months issue of Truckin at a WalMart in New Mexico on the way because it happened to be "the dually issue", and I was planning on buying a lowered pewter '96 crew cab from some cat where I worked at the time.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

That's when the "Boyd look" was way popular. Y'know, C/K Chevys, static drop, tint, and 15"-17" Boyds. I still love that look. Back then, I would have killed for a 96+ sbsc with a set of "huge" 17" Boyds.

Damn...that brings back a lot of good memories and a few sad ones. That was an awesome time in my life. Lots of good friends, a few girls, some awesome trips and not a lot of drama. Summers were spent at the beach and winters were spent in the mountains. Life was good back then. The bullshit and drama didn't start until my friends and I were older and more "mature". I miss those guys. Two have even passed away since then and one seems to have walked off the face of the planet. Nobodies heard from him since '02. Funny how you lose sight of certain things as life keeps on plugging along.

Honestly, that's why I'm such a sucker for static drops and "small" wheels. I guess that's just the icon I associate with those times. I keep it real.

Wow. Thanks Jimmy. I know it wasn't your intention, but I really needed that. Seriously.
