It's been a while, but if memory serves, aren't c-sections supposed to be made out of channel that wrap around the frame?

Looks like you just have a plate with a piece of pipe welded to it that bolts to the side of the frame. That would make me pucker up, too.

WOW! that is not a very well made bolt in at all. it should fit on the top and bottom of the frame, and the notch part should be welded to the bottom of the notch. you have no support at all with that notch.....

do you guys think it would help if i weld that plate then box the rest of the frame inbehind the cab to the back? man i dont know what to do any help would be appreciated.

Yeah. At the very least, weld it all up and box it in.

Call up bell tech or western chassis or someone like that and get one of their bolt ins if you want a simple fix. Most do not look like that.

Or make my own notch using that as a template. Just get a wider pc of 1/4" tube steel that will run the same width as the frame (dunno if the frame is wonky on top and not straight) Then use 1/4" flat steel to resemble the front of the notch you currently have...i'd just make a back for it as well.

The steel shop should be able to slice the tube steel in half for you so you get the 2 pcs. Then you just have to make the front and back of the notch, sandwich them together, and weld it up.

Just my 2 cents, I dunno if your buddy wanted to go to that extent, but that notch he has now looks sketchy.
