So we look back at the late 80s early 90s trucks and there are some things we look at and just about throw up, like ground effects and wings off the rear of the bed, remember truxurosa? (spelling sucks). What things that we are doing to our trucks today will guys look at in 2025 and ask themselves "why was that cool"?
My vote goes to big wheels. Very cool now but I think things will change, maybe not soon but they will.
What sucks is I found a truxurosa kit for my mazda at a bumper shop that was just bought out by a friend I wanted it my wife would not let me get it. I just wanted to put it on my mazda while it sits waiting for me to work on it I thought it would be funny plus he told me $10 for the kit she still would not let me get it! She said if I put that hidious thing on the mazda it was not allowed to come to our house! damn women! lol
I don't think the truxarossa kits were lame, for sure old school. Fads come and go, but build what you like, screw everyone else. About the wheel thing, I don't think tiny wheels looked good either, but whatever, it's for the love of trucks. Everyone has their opinion on what is lame, but as mini trucking evolves there will be newer and better things. One thing I don't agree with that I see a lot are POS trucks being built just to get dragged into pieces. Not enough quality rides at shows as there used to be, I see a lot more under construction rides then finished ones it seems like. I am talking about the shitty rides not the ones with awesome suspension work. Drag on.
i agree on the big wheels. I think they'll stay on trucks and such....but the donks will def. go
big wheels on slammed minis I don't think will ever fade. Just styles on rims will change. Things only go into cycles look at old rat rodz back in the day no one really had money so they took off what wasn't necessary and chopped them down. It's making a huge come back. I don't know if mini truckin days of the late 80's early 90's will come back but i'm suire someone said that about old rat rodz too. But rat rodz is a modern day term but same principle. But choppin, suicidin, and horespower will never fade!
you remember the rat i think they called him ratical rat or some shit he was in the truxarosa ads that was great
my favorite old truck was project x the green yota doored on like 16s 17s miss that one
I came to a revelation this weekend... Minitrucks are unique compared to every other vehicle that you could build. The fact that "built not bought" is the minitrucker credo, a few things change compared to other automotive industries.
First- shops like me will always be busy building new/different trucks for customers in order to keep up with the Jones
caddy tailights. Anything that has been overdone, and anything that starts out as a custom modification, and somebody turns into a kit. That's why I like minitrucks. We have to make most of our own stuff, or find parts to retrofit. The fullsize guys, tuners, classics, etc. all have aftermarket support...we don't have much, but that's what makes our trucks unique, and it gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that am the only one with a truck like mine.
