Hey, i'm getting rid of my a/c, what do i need to use my a/c comp for an engine driven comp? So far, it's my understanding that the stock a/c comp is lubed by freon (or 134-R, or whatever the hell they're running nowadays). Do i just need to put oil in it instead of the refrigerant? Do i need to do anything else?

when i did mine i ran a filter and an inline oiler on the inlet and a leader hose/ filter dryer/ check valve on the outlet.

jumbo im pretty sure you cant use your stock a/c compressor you need to replace it with a sanden or a york they make both of them that bolt right in place. something to do with the pistons in the stock one causes them to burn up easily. But when you do it you will need an oiler, an air filter and a water separator. Is your truck a v6? if so i would run the big york you can keep your air and the bracket from sd.com is only like 140.00 bucks.

You can use yours, my buddy used his ac on his s10 and worked fine. I use my ac pump on my lincoln, 200psi daily on 14 gallons. I had an inline oiler on it before, but the 3/8's fitting really bottle necked it. I found running an inline oiler really isnt necesary. Even at a low rate, I found it was too much. Now I just turn it on and squirt in some oil about once a week. Been doing that for over a year now.

so where do i put the oil in it? And that's all i need to do (well, and run my on/off switch, solenoid, and airlines)? And what kind of oil do i use, engine oil or compressor oil?

the compressors dont like engine oil at all, you can just get compressor oil at lowes or something.

Lucas makes a synthetic oil additive that comes in a gear lube style bottle. I run this straight in the compressor, and it loves it.
