How critical is the lip that sticks up which is used to mount the bench seat? I can't imagine it's of any use when installing aftermarket seats. Just thought I'd ask before I cut.
Are you talking about the black part on the floor here?Or is there something else? My buckets mount to that on the front, they bolted right to it.
Yeah, that. I'm 6'7" so I wouldn't mind having my seats sit back just a bit more. Figured that could go. With my kids, I haven't had a chance to inspect, ya know? Thanks
your prolly gonna wanna leave that in
Nope. Finally got my in-laws to watch the kids so I can get some stuff done around the house and voila! Those lips are one long piece that cross the tunnel. I cut them at the tunnel and at the base of the floor. Then, I used a mallet to lay the remaining metal back down and threw some tacks in. I ran a bead on the piece that I left over the tunnel. Thanks guys!
take pics if you can, i wanna see.
Okay, I put some bolts in there for reference to how far back I'm mounting the seats. The mount can still go forward 10 clicks - about 4" or 5". A buddy of mine sat in the seat where I need it...his reach was about 6" away from the stick, ha hahaha!
i cut mine out so i could get my seats to sit a little bit lower because of my bodydrop. i just drilled new holes through the floor. put new bolts with bigger washers. i also had to cut the sides of the tranny tunnel right there next to the seat so that the seat would sit flat.
Ahh, didn't think about cutting out that part. I got a 1"x3/8" spacer and a 1 1/2" bolt on each front corner nearest the door. I think I might just go that route and channel that area. Thanks bra!
