i was wondering where the usual 3/4 frame would start...

i wanna build a frame with 2x3 laid FLAT, with 2 sets of rails, inner and outer, body mounts between the two, and a canti setup with the outer rails ending at the bag mount.

i am askin this because i am thinkin of takin from where the front clip starts to bend outwards, cut it there... then i would go straight back from that, all the way to the backend, wiht the outer rails forming the body mounts n stuff...

its hard to imagine what i'm sayin unless i draw it out... i know...

i'll draw it up tomorrow after work...

Don't lay the 2x3 flat. Do a test for yourself and you will see why. Get about 8 feet of a wood 2x4. Its about 2.5x3.5. Stack it one something a couple inches tall. Lay it flat and stand on it. Now stand it up and stand on it. Once you've done that, tell me which one you woudl want to drive on.

Seth, I would typically agree, but I think what he is asking about is something like I did on the Taco in my profile. I used 2x3x.188 on all four frame rails and didn't have any more flex than a traditional frame. Of course it was more than twice as heavy and more costly, not quite my cup of tea, but it will work for what Tim is trying to do.

I see what you're saying Max. I didn't see that he wanted to run two framerails.

start with a frame table or a flat shop floor so you can keep everything level and square and measure, measure, measure and write it down so you can reference through the build, then start chopping and welding

YES!!! that answered my question bro...

i want mine to look somethin like this... it is out of proportion by a little bit and it will look better when done.

the rear end gets its lift off of the cantilever bags mounted outside the rails... also, instead of the tank being between the rails... there will be 2 skinny tanks outside the frame next to the tank.

The red is the new frame with the blue being the 4 link... and black being the axle...

here it is...
