what about getting a crew cab truck. then swapping in a US engine and glass and whatever other safety stuff the mexican ones didnt have. i know it can be done. just have proof and paperwork that all the parts are correct, and have pictures to prove it. then go to a highway patrol check point and they should be able to verify it meets standards. and yes, older is easier. or you can just get 2 cabs and do it all custom like.

i know it can be legalized from a mix of parts. because rat rod guys do it. and kit car guys.

That sucks, its only 15 years to import into Canada, and I've found a few sites that ship from Japan for reasonable prices as well as take care of the shipping and paperwork.

ive always wondered about doing the same thing myself...i was in cabo san lucas in november and saw all kinds of crazy trucks i'd never knew even existed... how hard is it to actually get it across the border??? i don't give a shit if it's legally registered and insured, i just want to know how hard it would be to get one into the states...
