The guy who said he had a 550 that burned out and he will never buy viair again has the compressor mounted in his open bed. that is a sealed compressor.I had two of those 550s on my tacoma and never had a problem. they were in a sealed compartment though. I think alot of peoples problems is the install. I would go viair. They make good shit

The current draw should be on there website.

I think it pulls 40 amps off the get go, then goes down from there. the reccomend an 80 amp relay and 70 amp fuse

I've had both my 450 Viair's for a year now and no bad luck yet.

i think half the problem is that people arent running pressure switches and just toggle switchs which lead to your compressor burning up, or maybe no relay? Ive had my 2-450's filling my 5gallon tank for 2+years now no problems, just change the filters and empty the water trap. I wantedto buy some AZ's but for the price of 2 i could buy a bolt on engine drive compressor and i hear about them all burning up, sure there pretty, but ill stick w/ vi air cause fora little electric pump to last for almost 3 years is pretty amazing. i have them pressure switched at 145psi.

I bought an AZ compressor when i first bagged my car and it burnt up after a month of normal use, then was replaced and i continued to burn up 2 more, both were replaced but this time with the new ob1x model with the new head and cooling fan and its been pumping great, so far i have been very satisfied with the new design in fact i bought a 2nd one. if you decide on an AZ compressor make SURE its the new model....

Yeah about the guy with the 550's i was gonna say the same thing...i think he runs a bed cover, but still, those can't be in moisture at all, gotta be in a completely sealed compartment...

And thats cool AZ has a kickass warrenty, but if you install them correctly, a ViAir will last forever and you won't NEED no damn warrenty!

haha

I had 2 380's with the filters remotely mounted behind my seat for real dry air...rains alot here and i'm not tryin to make my viair a sump pump for my bed

So i say Viair, for sure.

Run big wire and a HD silenoid and you'll be fine

Oh yeah and if you don't buy a 3 or 480, don't expect to be able to run them all day long and not have them burn up, duty cycle actually MEANS SOMETHING!

who woulda thought, i know right?
