My girlfriend is wanting to get into mini trucks and all. we found a nice 1986 Mazda B2000 pickup. This truck is cab-plus, SE-5 package. The vehicle exterior is in decent condition, interior is in very good condition. It has a new muffler, new master cylinder, new cd player, brand new rear speekers, and brand new rear shocks. Runs great, has 180k orriginal miles, 2.0L carbureted 4cylinder engine, very die hard, it is nearly impossible to damage the engine because nothing requires electronics to function.

the problem is... she doesn't know and doesn't want to know how to drive a stick...

how hard would it be to swap a automatic into the truck?

she wants to eventually bag it, and drive it daily. we are gonna hit up the shows with license plates saying HIS DWG & HER DWG, while parked next to each other...

you have to find an automatic truck and get everything from it, trans, flex plate, torque converter, driveshaft, crossmember, radiator, cooling lines, shifter, everything. Then it bolts in.

Make sure you get an auto trans from a B2200, the B2600 or B2600i auto trans will not bolt up.

you will also need the wiring harness even if it is carbuerated

no, you wont. The computer has nothing to do with the trans. There is an overdrive override button but that is contained in the vehicle harness, and NOT having it hooked up means the truck will always have overdrive.

You will need the flex plate, the torque converter, the shifter and yes the crossmember is different. so someone told you wrong or is just guessing.

the crossmember is already on the frame, its the cross member that is behind where the manual crossmember is, u will need the mounting bracket that bolts to the cross member to the tranny

it also means that u can cut off the stock tranny crossmember mounts to clean up the frame if u want
