4 wheel drive s-10 questions

ok i have an 88 s-10 4 by 4. i want to update to disk breaks in the back. can i just put disc instead of drums. or would i have to change the axles or the rearend. if so what year would match my gear ratio. i got more questions just cant think of them right now. any help wpuld be great
