just wondering if its possible to lay a dakota out on 20's with stock upper control arms. im having a problem getting mine to lay out and just cant seem to figure out whats holding the truck up. any info is a great help thanks
Is your truck z'ed? To lay full frame it needs to be z'ed. Also check the lower control arms and tierods and see if they're hitting the frame.
No its not z'ed yet but im just trying to get the crossmember to lay so i can z the frame. tie rods and control arms are clear. I heard sonewhere that i needed to reangle my upper ball joints to lay. Could the ball joints be binding. And by the way thanxs for the pics james
a few years back some friends and i bagged a dakota and we didn't have to Z the frame to get it to lay. the ball joints were an issue w/ binding if i remember right they used 3/4 ton chevy ball joints. i'll try and find out if thats what they did
Those pics are of a ram if I'm not mistaken. In fact I think I was looking at it at fall fest. Nice truck. Yea you may need to reangle the balljoint or find a balljoint with more travel then the factory. If I can help with anything else man just let me know.
i have an 2002 dakota its in the process of getting bagged but i z'd my frame and im using factory control arms and it lays all the way around i have 18's with a factory offset the only problem i have run in to is the wheels rubbin a lilttle now its still in a shop in Oklahoma and i live in st. louis ist not driveable cause im geting a new drive shaft made cause its extended cab so im running 2 drive shafts one on a carrier bearing under the cab then to the axle does anyone know if i might rin into the same thing ??
