alienware is owned by dell now...
I'm a software architect, i don't build computers anymore, but i buy between 200 and 500 computers a year. I mostly buy indsutrial computers though, so unless you're looking for a non-conductive touch panel rack mount that isn't that great.
Basiclly the emachines are just 1 - 2 year computers. sure it'll be okay, the celeron is just bad at heat displacement, not made for anything high end. surfin the net, email, and word processing isn't taxing so you wouldn't probably notice a shit of difference.
I would check out the sales on dell's website, or check their outlet as well. (

check out
www.dealspl.us as well they just aggragate prices for people on products and often have good prices on desktops and laptops and current coupons etc...
everyone's going to have their own opionion on what's good and what's bad. Honestly it doesn't make a goddamn differnce. They're all the same hardware in a different case. They all buy from the same companies... it's just what level of product they buy and how much in bulk they buy it.
