I found what I think is a killer deal for a new computer in the black friday adds (the day after Thanksgiving sales) My current pc is 7 years old and is pretty much falling apart. So I need a computer that is good to get online with and that's about it. LOL Is this a good pc or is it junk? i mean bang for buck, is it worth it or should I just get something more expensive? I paid $3500 for the system I have now (HP Pavillion 9680c) and it was top of the line back then.

I would go for it man. I have an e-machines for the last couple years. I have a desktop and a laptop. Both are E-machines. For the money you can't beat it. I havent had any probs with either one exept each one got a virus once.I use the desktop the most. I have my sticker plotter hooked up to it plus I download all my music and stuff and use my Ipod on it.

I would not buy a E Machine, my friend got a $1300 laptop from them almost 2 yrs ago. Within 4 months he had to send it in to have the motherboard and hard drive replaced. This was due to it overheating. They would replace the faulty parts but not fix what was causing it. Well it had a 1 yr warranty on it, 13 months after he bought it, the damn thing fried again and they would not warranty it because it was over 12 months. Even though they admitted they knew it was a fault in the laptop causing it to overheat, so he had it working a total of about 5 months out of the year. Now E machines has a huge lawsuit going against them for anyone that bought a laptop during that time. So choose your computer wisely. I would go with a Dell, they are the most common PCs available replacement parts are cheap and they have killer service. I have had mine for over 3 years and I have only turned it off 5 times. Works perfect every time.

I don't know much about emachines but getting a celeron processor is not a good thing. I use to work for (cough) Dell for 9 years and I got deals on them. I normally just bought the refurbished desktops and I have not had any problems at all. Matter fact, the computer I am using right now is a Dell Dimension E310 I bought for $208. That is tax, shipping and everything. No monitor though. I still using the same 19" crt monitor I have haad for about 7 years now. My computer said in the ad that it had a scratch or something on it ( i think thats why it was $20 but it was not even worth mentioning it was so small. Anyway, I use it just for internet and nothing else. Regardless of what brand you get, just make sure you get pentium instead of celeron

I would stay away from the celeron line of intels processor. And your deff gonna want more ram than that. When the windows vista comes out soon, its going to require 1 gig or ram. I personally will never buy a store bought PC ever again. They are all junk, and have shitty proprietary software and hardware. You should just build one, for $500-600, you could have a damn nice computer, and its very simple.

i have an e machine, when i bought it i was a little skeptical about buying one but since ive had mine, it runs fine and lives up to what it came with. the thing about store bought computers is a lot of times, they'll come pre programmed with all your software in them. MAKE sure that you get ALL of the instalation disks for your computer. if something crashes and needs to be reinstalled you'll want to have those disks. usually when they program the computer, they put everything that there is to offer on the computer. ie: aol, msn, yahoo, promotion programs, etc. that will slow your computer down and make it run like crap. as long as you know how to get what you dont want out and off of the computer and keep up on basic maintenence such as running your virus scan, defragmenting your harddrives, and running spyware if you have it. i dont see a problem with that computer if all your going to use it for is the internet and basic stuff. the only thing i didnt like about it and maybe i just didnt read enough, was that there wasnt a cd burner with it. it had a dvd/cd/and so on drive that will read the disks but not burn them. good luck.

2 things to stay away from when buying a computer. 1. E-machines and 2. Intel Celeron, and AMD Duron Processors. This is what I do for a living. I'm a network consultant, so I'm always doing new builds for companies. Go to the dell website and get you a good computer with a warrenty. ANy one of these 4 would be good computers if your just using to surf the internet.

ALL I KNOW IS E MACHIENS ARE MOSTLY JUNK. THEY PUT IN WHATEVER THEY GET A GOOD DEAL ON FOR PURCHASING POWER AND FROM MACHINE TO MACHINE CAN VARY.

I am in programming and software design field. I would definitely would stay away from Intel Celeron processors. Junk- I do not think you will be happy in the long run. If anything were to go wrong, their customer service sucks! They hardly ever reply to e-mails nor do they provide 1-800 #'s. Just do a google search and you will see that there are a lot of people not satisfied with eMachines. For the price of the eMachine, you could get a nice Dell! Go check out their website.
