bad check valves? bad AZ comps?

so ive been having some problems with my check valves...
i was losing tank pressure, and i got underneath and started spraying around and couldnt find anything leaking. but i could hear air moving around. and the only place it sounded like it was coming from was the filter element from one of my AZ's.
so i disconnected the line from the check valve, and air was coming out of it, so i plugged it until i can get another check valve tomorrow. well after i did that i still had a leak...
it was coming from the OTHER AZ!!!!!! so then i remembered the recall and dropped one of the comps... well there wasnt a serial number under it like there was supposed to be.
i was thinking maybe it had a bad bearing that wasnt sealing correctly, because i would run the comp, and then turn it off, get under the truck and hear a hissing from the comp, so i would loosen the line before the check valve to relieve pressure and then the check vlave would seal and not leak.
has anyone heard of this before? is it just bad check valves?

I've had the same sort of issue with check valves before, some of them need a good pressure difference from one side to the other to make a seal and if the air in the hose before the check is leaking slowly it won't seal. I would suggest putting a relief valve between the comp and check valve, this would also make it easier on your comps on startup.

thanks for the input. luckily Parker has a distribution warehouse here in Tucson, so im going to go check them out tomorrow to see what they have.

If I recall correctly, there was an issue with the early check valves on the AZ comps, and if yours doesn't have a serial number, it may be an early model, thus having bad check valves. May want to call AZ to verify that.

i just called AZ. god damn! they need someone who knows better english working the phones.
i ordered a new valve. and i also found out that my comps are the originals from way back in the day, thats why they dont have a serial number. so i need to send them in.
