Need help with a steering problem

Not sure what is the cause but on my 97 Tahoe, I will be driving along and when I turn "slightly" to the right, sometimes it will (damnit, cant think of the word now ) but it will jar to the right, almost to the point of loosing control of vehicle. Can someone help me out here

It was scary the first time Thank you, i will check it out. Oh and no my wheel is normally turned to the right a little when going straight. not bad though
