^^^^^ Ive never had a problem with running my ipod through a set of computer speakers only. Not exactly the same but the EQ options on the ipod have always been good enough to get good sound quality.
I think it would be okay, worth a try.... And if your not going to run subs then the mid'high amp should give you ample adjustments to get good sound.

I have an ipod hooked up the same way and it sounds good. My amp has an eq built-in, but if your not running subs then you really don't need to adjust the sound. So you should be just fine.

i run my ipod thru my pioneer deh-p6800. you dont need that extra adaptor, cause it has an AUX input on the face. But you cant control the ipod thru the cd player without that adaptor...
