Is that hardwood 2x4's or can I use pine? Just kidding. The 1/4" wall tubing will do just fine. Maybe use 3"x3" if you want.

2x4x1/4 is strong, i'm doing that on a stock floor F150 now wtih a chevy front fame clip... i'll take some pics later.
