Will work ok for frame work. But yes to much heat for thin sheet metal.

I know a guy here that still believes in only his arc welder and nothing else will penetrate enough for strength.. it works for frame, but not for sheet.

an arc welder can do both, problem is most people who actually can run an arc welder wouldnt use it for this application.

hahaha what do you guys think they used before migs and shit became easy to access? Not everything was gas welded...that takes to much time. sheetmetal can be welded with and arc welder with the right rods and heat settings. The main problem today is that modern sheetmeatl is way too thin to mess with and arc welder

hell the shop manual for my 51 actually has pictures and a step by step quarter panel patch part that shows it being arc welded
