I am a huge fan of "do-it-yourselfers" Thats why I write as much tech as I do...

...I have all of the articles that I have writen in the past for any one that is interested. IM me your e-mail and I will send them over.

-Front suspension
-Rear suspension theory
-Rear suspension design
-Proper bolt and tab use

I'll have to what else I have...

its great to build your own link but make sure you know exactly what you are doing.
i knew a guy once that took his leafs apart, and only used the main, he cut the leaf off a foot from the front shackle, welded a rectangular tube the same width to the leaf and ubolted the tube to the axle. he thought it was the shit. all he did was make somthing dangerous. please dont try to be a know it all innovator, you might hurt someone

everyone keeps telling this guy "make sure you know what your doing" " if you don't know how you shouldn't do it" "make sure to do your home work""..... What do you think this guys tring to do , he wants to learn how , wants to learn how to do it right . So why isn't anyone giving him some tips on how to measure or lead him to a site/thread that could get him started ?
Everyones gotta start somewhere and he choose to start here so lets help him out .
I'll be the first one to tell you i don't have a clue on how to measure up your 4link but like you i'd like to learn

You should read up on how a 4 link works and then measure where you want to place it in your ride..

The first one I did was about 10 years ago, Pete & Jakes kit, I think it was for a 34 ford or something, it came with some paperwork on how to set it up right. I'll see if I can find that old paper this week, it had some good info. Links are cheap enough and just not worth building, unless yer building allot of them or just happen to have lathes and such laying around.

Geridr, your exactly right. I understand you don't want somebody going down to Home Depot and buying some pipe and start building some death trap BUT, That's today's world far ya. It's easier to just make em' out to be a dumb fuck than to help em'. Go to google type in "4 link suspension", read and look at all the info you can (you will spend day's there) and you make the decision if you want to tackle it or not. Most guy's buy their first setup, install it,learn from that experience and maybe build the next one. If you decide to build your own, you should trailer it to a good suspension shop near you or find someone near you that knows suspension(lot's of 4 links out there on race cars) and pay them to check it out for you and make sure it's safe. Good luck with it whatever you decide.
