Good point- once the truck is started, what do you need the battery for? Just carry a jumper box with you everywhere, or do a crank-start conversion! Better yet, just park it on hills!

thanks for having my back, ray. I was gonna call him on it but was too dog ass tired at the time. and phil, how would i do remote terminals? Would i have to put a plastic ring or something between the terminal and the frame (i'd think so, but don't know how to do it). I really don't want to do another optima battery, the last one lasted a year and a half with about 100 starts. I saw the kits, they're basically 4ga wire with a battery tray, i have 4 gauge wire and will make a battery tray. Please let me know about the remote mounts, though, i'm mucho interested in that.

By the way, the rectal temperature of a 3 toed sloth is 92.3F Just messing with you, i have a veritable trove of useless knowledge in my onion. I'd like to knock some of it out so i could learn more useful stuff, but that's hard to remember, lol.

moving the battery is useless

i built a new battery tray out of some 3/4 x 3/4 angle iron, and raised it up in the stock location. installed a $30 walmart battery, and it's been fine for the last 70k miles

what's the point in fooling with expensive wire and moving the thing somewhere that makes it a pain in the ass to get to when you can leave it where it's already at

Jegs and Summit sells a flip down box for your battery, i couldn't afford it so I made my own out of scrape metal. I also went down to the local auto parts store and bought the wire I needed I think it was 0ga.

The place here that I get my reptile stuff from (rats, etc) has one, I guess i could ask him. The guy there is a big flammer, he wouldn't have a problem checking the tempature there.

It looks like they have a few options. Another way to go if you have access to a junkyard is to find some 90s GM vehicles and rob them of their terminal block. The coolant bottle sat over the battery on some FWD models, so they put a remote positive lug for jumpstarting on there. Either way, the idea is to just have an insulated terminal mounted somewhere you can actually get to it!

i mounted mine just in front of my passenger side rear tire, i can get to it just fine (for jump starting) with a b.d.
