i deff. wouldn't go to UTI again. i went to the pheonix school, dropped out early, wasn't impressed at all. for a school to have so much money coming in, and say they are hands on, yet they didn't have a carb. for us to mess with so that we could learn how to tune one, is a joke. all it is is the name. i knew a guy that worked at a bmw dealership tinting windows, he said that every UTI kid they got was a complete joke, they would ask him how to work on the cars. some teachers are good there, but a lot are not and just care about getting you in and out of school. i am now a welder and kinda thinking bout going back for auto mechanics to the local tech school where i learned to weld. i deff. recommend going to a local tech school than UTI, at least where i live, there is a very highly recommended tech school that is priced normal and not crazy high like UTI.
I went to the Houston UTI, other than a few friends I have made for life it was definitely NOT worth the 251.89 a month I still pay over 4 years later. I spent most of time in classes fixing stuff other people before me destroyed, so I really didn't get a ton out of it. The recruiters are such BS'ers it is not funny. They tell you what you wanna hear to get you there, then you will never be worried about again. I now live in another town where there is a UTI and if I had seen the way these kids in this town are talked about now, I would've never ever done it. Also never recieved any assistance finding a job, and was told any and all updates on classes were free. Shortly after graduating a friend called UTI to get back into a class and they told him free updates weren't available any more. Sorry for the essay.
i graduated uti a little over a year ago. i took auto/diesel/ford and it was 28k. after all that crap i went to the audi academy. I was able to get a job near my home town in wa. after a year i moved to flat rate at 20$ and hour. It's the biggest audi shop in the country. If you go to uti you absolutely have to go to a graduate program or uti is a waste of time. a friend of mine took auto/diesel/ford and he is making 14 or 15$ and hour flat rate after almost 2 years. Uti is a joke in most aspects...all they care about is making money, they could care less if you or anyone else makes it in this industry. but if you go through a graduate program you will make good money. If i was asked to do it again i would, but only because i took a graduate progam. Strive for 100% attendance and they will be eating out of your hand.
