I was wondering a couple of things about this school. How much is the final cost, do they help you with a job while in school, and how much can i expect coming out of it hourly wise. I would like to try to work a custom shop but who knows.. I have alot of personal experience but you know how that goes when trying to get a job.

hey, i went to UTI here in Phoenix, i graduated last friday.

Of the cost, i am not sure, you will have to call the specific campus you want to attend, they very by campus. The one here in Phoenix, AZ actually offers an associates degree, which none of the other campuses do.
As for them helping you with a job, they have an Employment Services department. Different businesses call UTI with job openings and UTI posts them on a job board. They also have certain companies come in and do presentations and on campus interviews every month.
Depending on where you go when you graduate will decide how much you make. I am starting a job here in AZ and i am going to be making around 3G a month to start. but i have had offers in WA for upto $50k/year.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask. I personally think going to UTI was a good choice. I knew some about cars, but they went more in depth than what i was familiar with...

its 20-30 grand depending if you want diesel.
i didnt think it was all that it was hyped up to be. if you go i highly, highly recommend a manufacturer specific program after the core program.
UTI is not a really good choice if your planning on custom work, they really push working at dealership style places. they will get you a job without a problem when your done though.

Thanks for the information so far. I was thinking about going for paint and body / custom fab. Although I don't know if thats the smartest idea for making a decent living. It is what i enjoy though.

If you want body and paint, i believe the only campus that has it is the Houston TX campus.

ive heard many stories.. i know about 5 people that have gone through that school, and all say they would have never done it if asked to do it again.
only 1 of them works in a shop, and it has nothing to do with goin to U T I (UnTrainedIdiots) is what they called it

the main reason i went is because i wanted tbe assoicates degree... if you know nothing about autobody and paint, id go, but if u have some knowledge, your best bet would be to go and get an apprenticeship at at a shop.

Its just hard getting a shop to accept you for something like that, most that i have talked to want some sort of in shop experience.

i went to wyo tech. i think it was worth it, but even with tech on my resume everone still wants experience. id say just search and search and search for a job doing what you want to do and try getting a job.intern there. most the time you can learn just as much and more from somone with expierience than paying for school
