The generic So Cal term for a "soft drink" is coke.

However, out here, if you tell a waitress you want a coke, you get Coca-Cola or Pepsi. Whichever one they carry.

If you say you want diet, you get Diet Coke, or Diet Pepsi. Again, whichever one they carry.

If you want a D.P. or Mountain Dew or something like that, ya gotta be specific right off the bat.

dont you love it when you go to a rest. for dinner and you ask for a COKE and they ask you is PEPSI ok?? they just look at you crazy when you say no its not!
