I dont like using electric for cutoff wheels at all. Way to much torque, disks explode way to often.

not if u dont bend them...never had one just explode on me w/o bending or twisting it..

Maybe I have the magic touch, I have used a angle grinder with a cutoff wheel for 6 years and never had an explosion. I buy sata wheels.

They do make electric die grinders that is for the 3" wheels my wheel suplier gave me a free one to try out. Its alright but a 4 1/2" grinder with a cut off wheel is defanitly the way to go. Ace Industrial supply is the name of the place. # 818 252 1981

Friend of mine had one of those and it last bout a week and a half. I learned early buy a good one the first go round. Any electric grinder is something every good or hell even shitty shop should have.

I've never had a problem using an electric grinder and a disk blowin up. Been using them for years.

wow, thanks for all the responses, guys. i thought about an angle grinder, but thought the angle would be wierd (90 degrees as opposed to 180 for a cutoff wheel). i just wish all my questions had quick responses like that.

I HATE using them to, but sometimes you gotta use what you got! When i use a cutoff wheel on an electric grinder i use safety glasses AND a face shield. Those things blow up EASY.

Make sure to wear eyewaer, and a facsheild when grinding. I found out the hard way. I was wearing a pr. of safety glasses, but no sheild, and went to grind on my frame. Well, 15-20 seconds into it, I got a pc of something i my eye. Went right under the glasses. Turns out it was a pc. of the grinder stone, and it lodged itself in my Pupil . Went to E.R. and waited 3 hours to have it removed. 575.00 dollars later I was at Homo Depot buying a face sheild, and goggles for any future grinding.
