Badluck with red top?

charging system is fine and it never sits i drive it when it will start lol. the compressors don't run when the truck is off. what do you mean they sometimes chang pole like reverse polarity and short stuff out????

how many volts are going from your altenator to your battery?

Red Tops are crap, I had 2 of them in two seperate cars that were sitting with no load, both died in 2-3 months. I think when they went to the new design, they fed up something internally. I have had a few of the old design ones and never had a problem.

Yeah they're dying because the red top is made to be a starting battery. The yellow top is a deep cycle battery made for accessories like stereos, compressors, hydraulics, etc. Yellow top is what you would wanna use.

i have the bigger red top( the one they dont make anymore, looks same as yellow top, but has like 1000 ccas) only problem ive ever had out of mine was it eating alternators. but i upgraded to a 95 amp from a newer ranger and ran 8 gauge strait to it. never had a prob since. ive had mine for over 5 years.

I've gone through 3 yellow tops in about 2 yrs. I was told (by a altinator shop, so take it for what you will) that Optima's will not build their own charge like a regular battery will if you leave it alone. If your charging system doesn't replace all the charge then the Optima doesn't "top it off" so to speak. So the next time you might be starting with only 750 amps instead of 880. Then the next time only 700, etc... until the battery just will not hold a charge anymore. I went back to a good regular battery and have not had a problem since.

go to kinetic audios website and check out there batteries, i have 2 in my 05 dually, running 3 air zeniths and a system, they are th shit...
