alright so my dad got pulled over in his truck today for having a rollpan... this is in orlando btw, and the cop said he pulled him over for having no bumper.. luckily he let him off on a warning. my dads had the rollpan for like 4 years and no cops have hassled him. i was just wondering if this cop made up this rollpan law on the spot or is it really against the law? i think its pretty stupid tho

Yep it's a law here in Orlando. Oh by the way speaking of rollpans and orlando..if you're driving down 408 before the first toll booth away from I-4, watch out for mine...it's there somewhere..flew off a couple weeks ago...

It seems that cops will just make up anything to pull you over in hopes that they'll find something much larger, sorry to hear that. this is a story that reminds me of a time i got stopped. said they were looking for a car like mine and said they had cause to search it, but i knew that they was not going to find any thing , but the cop told me that if he seen my car ride through town with the air fresher leafs that he was going to stop me again. he said that they call them "felony freshers"
Stupid cops

the law says that your vehicle should be able to withstand a 5 mph impact minium(sp?) ill have to find the exact statute, so i have a piece of tube steel welded inbetween my framerails, i just have to point it out everytime im pulled over

roll pans are techinally illegal even though most trucks come factory w/ them. By definition a bumper has to absorb a 5 mph impact.....the way to get away w/ a roll pan & beat the law is to make a "bumper" & place it behind the roll pan.... i made one a box out of 1/2 x 1/2 box tubing & made it bolt to the factory bolt mounts behind the roll pan & presto insta-bumper that by law will pass

ya the tube steel idea dosent work...unless maybe if you take it to court...i have been hassled routinley by OPD, OCSO, Winter Park PD, FHP....and on and on and on.....so no dice on the tube.....i was told that my stock s-10 bumper was illegal and it was my responsibility to replace the rollpan woth a bumper...most cops dont give a hsit but now and again you get hte assholes....oh and stay out of daytona....in orlando its a unsafe equipment ticket...in Daytona its 3 fuckin points and a moving violation...believe me i know.....
