Basically, a relay is a heavy duty switch. The circuitry inside your door popper kit's brain, and the guts inside a pressure switch, aren't designed to carry a heavy electrical load- they just carry a signal. A relay takes that signal and uses it to trigger an electromagnet, which moves a physical switch inside the relay to provide your solenoid or compressor with full battery power.
Your pressure switch will last longer, and your pump will run stronger because it's getting cleaner power! YAY! Let's hear three cheers for RELAYS!!

i have the spal 35lb kit and i think its fine, my poppers slam open, i was also wondering what people use instead of the wire, i know some have used a wire hanger type of thing but is there something better that has no play like the cable does.

I have the same kit you have and the relays are built in.. mine is a 7 channel.

the cable will have a little bit of play, its what the directions say.. as long as the latch fully opens when the noid is all the way down youre good.. mine has very very little slack.. you just gotta take your time on it and get the cabvles right and then clamp em.
