my new jdm mazda engine
Why not just swap that head and intake manifold onto a F2T block? Then you get the 2.2 instead of the 1.8 and a much stronger bottom end....I think :S
that is exactly my plan ryan, to make it a 2.2 with an f2t bottom end.
so what are you doing with the 1.8 bottom end? I still have that magnum head, we could make a screaming top ender.
yeah russ, I didn't even think about that bottom end- lol, I'm so focused on a 2.2 motor! Actually- it would be nice to trade a 2.2 usable block for my 1.8 bottom end. The bottom end has 20-40 thousand miles on it. It looks brand new. It came full of oil, and oil looks brand new! All I need it a good 2.2 block and crank and rods. I'll change the pistons to the turbo pistons= 7.5 compression ratio. Would like to have another truck oil pan too. You know russ I still have a complete mazda truck efi intake- combined with your magnum head and 1.8 bottom end- that would be a nice little screamer. I got an extra distributor that is fully rebuilt with vacuum advance. The possiblities are endless!
It's soo funny, I work for Honda/Acura, and am aware of all the power and interchangability of the B- and D- series engines, but prefer to discover the possibilites of the mazda F- blocks! I guess I get my fix of Hondas just working on them everyday.
Whats the difference between this engine and say the one in the 2600i I just picked up. Excuse me for my ignorance, I'm new to Mazda's, ask me anthing Yota and I'm your man.
haha yeah but wiggity wayner would shoot me dead if I sold that head to anyone else. It was a nice thought..
I think I still have a 2.2 block around, it was hooch's engine, swallowed an air cleaner nut. Didnt bang up the bores, just the piston. Failing that I know there is a 2.2 block from my nephews old truck around somewhere.
I wish i had a clue about motors...

about .8 liters of displacement
yours is a 2.6 EFI and nothing will interchange, completely different engine family, even though they look similar with 12 v and fuel injection.
DO NOT RUN YOUR TRUCK HOT. The 2.6 is known for head cracks, it was a DESIGN flaw but is not covered buy warranty or recall even though Mazda made an updated replacement casting head. If it gets warm at all, shut it off.
Thanks for the info. I knew the displacment was different, just wasn't sure on the interchangability. Chances are the trucks getting a SBC.
Dangit! The cat's out of the bag now! LOL! I wish I knew someone who has a F2T Probe engine......HE HE HE!
