Looking to buy a plasma cutter

not too familiar with plasma cutter brands...what is good/bad.....dont need the best of the best but want to be able to find parts for it/consumables....I would really like to find a used one but if I can find a good deal on a used one then I will go that route

I have a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 51 http://www.thermadyne.com/evolution/productLiterature.asp?mernbr=1&div=tdc&catnbr=159&subcatnbr=170&pdtnbr=464 Its awsome. I haven't had any problems out of it. They have a couple models below this one if your not going to use it for heavy thick steel.

looking at buying a riland....are they a good unit?

Never heard of a rilan. Esab makes a good plasma.

I wanna get a Miller Spectrum 375 for now.. maybe larger in the future also.

I have a Miller and it works but its touchy as far as errors in the tip. I would get a thermal dynaimcs if you can. There is a reason places rent that brand out. They are pretty indistructable and make lots of service parts. I got my miller spectrum 375 to match my welder. its better than nothing

oh - get a 220v cutter. if you have newer house 4-5 years old. if the plasma has a 110v plug it will probably flip the GFCI plugs in the garage. I had to use the automatic sprinkler outlet which isn't GFCI protected abut is a 15 amp and fliped the break ever minute or so.

try htp at usaweld.com. excellent product, low price. their airforce 400 is around 750 to 800 last I checked, and it has a true 40 amp output. quality cuts on 3/8. The only bad thing is the consumables are only available from them mail order. Other than that, my Miller 625 and Hypertherm 600 have never let me down. I had a Miller 375 for a while, and it was a great machine. I still suggest you look at htp. they have several models, starting around 600.00
