I just picked up my dually last weekend, it's an 82 GMC Crew Cab 2wd. It's got some rust but it ain't to bad, currently no engine or trans and the passenger side dually fender is busted. But I got it fot $200!

I'm not positive on exactly what all I am going to do to it, but I do know it will be low with a 73-78 front clip and I would like to find the 73-80 chrome side trim for it. And I already have a cab & chassis rearend for it.

Welcome aboard.

Nice truck to start with & you can't beat the cost. Surely you could part it out for that.

Engine & trnas choice?? Plans for lowering it? Interior?

Well I have a 350/700R4 in a parts suburban I could use, or a friend of mine has a 454/400 I may pick up.

As for lowering it, i'll probably just do a static drop for now. Thinking about 6.5/8".

Not completely sure on the interior either, it may end up with the buckets and console from the burb.

Yeah, I couldn't pass on the price.

Well I am going to start with a different truck now. I picked up the 79 GMC crew cab dually that TurboTSI_1991 has posted on here, and I will try to get a few pics of that one up in a couple days. It will save me alot of trouble in the long run I think, since the front clip and bed are already off, and it's the older body I won't have to make the older front bumper fit. I have decided to put a pontiac engine in the truck, and before I get any why's, 3 reasons 1: it's different, 2: TORQUE!, & 3: I found ond cheap and it really won't cost much more to build it thatn it would a BBC, plus around here you would think a BBC was made from gold! I will most likely just use the 82 for parts and sell what I don't need to help fund the project. Does it cost anything to post for sale or want to buy ads on this site?

Oh yeah, my name is Freed and i'm 29, married with three step-daughters. I am a welder in a factory that builds industrial burners here in Parsons KS, it's a town of about 13,000 people. Needless to say, I am one of maybe 5 people into the dropped dually scene, i'm sure once I get this thing rolling i'll get all kinds of confused looks from all the farmers around here and that's part of the point.

Most of the tear down has been done already, and I have located some trim pieces for the bed that should be here within the next week or so. For now I am just getting my plan together, looking for ideas and trying to sell off some extra parts I have so I can buy some parts I need for the truck.

My extra lots behind my house look like this, the far truck is parts for my dads 1 ton.......

There is also a 76 & 86 front clips sitting off to the side along with a 76 Blazer chassis sitting on the trailer, the 76 front clip will probably find it's way on to the truck.

Well it's settled, i'm going to be running a Pontiac 400/400. I may try to find a 4L80E or something like that for it. Once our snow melts away I may be able to start my build thread.
