Will the w55 tranny (89-95) from a 22re work on a 77 20r?

it should, I just swapped a 5 speed from a 79 in my 77. the only thing you might have a prob with will be the crossmember, since HiLuxs have coils and the later yotas have torsions. you will have to fab a new tranny mount or a whole new crossmember a few inches farther back.
