360 in a 97 dak 2 wheel
hey guys just needed some info on doin a 360 in my truck i have dropped the motor in but the oil pan hits the fron cross member i ordered the motor from the junk yard low miles and it came out of a 98 ram sst i also ordered an oil pan out of a 98 dakota its the same except for the drain plug is in a diff spot any suggestions
the dakota oil pan should fit, because the RT dakota has the 360 in it....
i thought so too i have a 360 from a ss/t ram and its the same motor except the drain plug on the pan is diff location i even ordered a pan from a 98 doakta r/t it was the same dementions so the only thing i think im goin to be able to do to get around it is fab the fron cross member and call it a day
maybe the RT dakota has a different crossmember, or the mount set the motor in a different spot check both of those.
what motor mounts are you using? the 5.2 and 5.9 motors are the same size, and they don't have special frames.
i think that the 97 frame is diff i used the mounts from the v6 and it will lay rite in but the oil pan hangs too low and hits the cross member for the steering rack i ordered the pan from a four wheel drive its a shallow pan ill see if that works and if it dont ill make my own cross member

i guess the 8cyl motor uses diff motor mounts than the 3.9, the easiest thing to do would either be section the pan and shorten the pickup, get the r/t motor mounts, or modify the mounts you have. i know the 6 cyl oil pans are like 1/2" or less off the ground, so i would go whatever route that will not let the drain plug go lower than stock
nah the mounts for the v6 and the v8 dakota are the same everything fits great except for the pan well now it fits perfect i got a new pan for a 98 dakota 360 4x4 and the picup and it fits like a glove i ordered it directly from chrysler the guy said 98 when they made th r/t the front cross member is curved out more so now im good i can start with bigger projects like my stock floor
