LOL. Well, I had to order the pillowblocks, sadly. What made it even worse, is that they're overseas made junk. Tried to get them in before Heritage last year, and flat out couldn't find any American (I would've even been happy with German) tooled ones ANYWHERE that could be received that week. Broke my heart actually.
The gears, however, I'm damned proud of. I dunno if anybody here knows anything about mining coal, but we have these MASSIVE machines called Continuous Miners, that are essentially underground 20 foot wide horizontal tillers that just destroy their way through coal seams and rock. 3 million $ plus machines. Anyway, these gears came from the cutting head control gear box from one of the CMs made by Joy Manufacturing. They're probably worth more than the entire rest of the truck, LOL. My father in law is a line engineer at one of their big plants, and these were actually cast offs. They scope the surface of them and if there are any non-tolerance surface pitting, they toss them. Told me once that four of those small gears are 1800 for a matched and splined set. (!!!)
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I really really appreciate it. That truck should be done by Heritage (or at least all but interior) so I'm pretty stoked.
