As far as Texas Is concerned, it is not illegal to have modified suspension. However, it is illegal to adjust while on public streets, highways. So, in answer to your question, at least in Texas, if you get pulled over ..... leave it alone and they won't jack with you. You may get the 20 question cop, but as long as no adjustment is made, he can't do anything.
I live in a town where I get harrassed by the police big time, everytime I drive by they know its me, because I'm the only bagged truck in their district. Everytime they pull me over, which is weekly, I just tell them I have it bagged for carrying my dirtbikes. Haha. And they always threaten me about my liscense plate light being red.
when i drove my truck over the summer when i got pulled over which was nightly by this jerk that lives 3 houses down from me he dont like me to begin with because of the grinder and saws all going at 2 in the am but yea i always set it down when i got pulled over and everytime his partner was like damn that shit is cool and he was like "man your lucky to have all that money" i was thinking to my self what money

I was riding with a buddy of mine in a bagged crew cab dually and we live in a little hick town enyway he pulled us over for our liscense plate light being to bright and when he was letting us go he like walked back up said why would you do this to a dually it was some funny shit
I got pulled over once for a dim headlight and when the cop was walking up he was staring at my fullsize nitrogen bottle and asked if it was for nos i told him it was for the susp and them i laid it to the doors the cop was like dam that things low and told me to fix my light and let me go
I passed a state trooper in town on our local cruise spot, was taking out road titties. I saw him pull a U, so i dragged into a parking lot, and jumped under the truck like it was broken. He rolled in, let me borrow his flashlight to "fix it". then gave me a ticket for expired inspection sticker
i always bagg on them when they are walking up to the car that has gotten me out of some tickets because they like to check out the car
I hide my switch box under a sweatshirt or a towel and leave it were it is, no need to stur up any unwanted attention. If the cop is cool and asks about my car ill lay it out for him, otherwise the less he knows the better .
I got pulled over for my truck being too low. The cop told me he saw my "bumper dragging on the ground",which i didn't do that night, but my rollpan was dragged off and it said "yea, it drags... on it. He then went on to tell me that he knew i had "hydraulics", and i needed to "raise it up" to be legal.
So i told him i had air ride, not hydraulics, and he said "yea, yea, i know", and i lifted it in front of him. He measured, and at full lift i was still too low by NH law. I just got the ticket dropped, but it was fun hitting the switch in front of the cop.
I think it all depends on where you live. If you think it will help you out then go for it. But here in Sacramento I would never do it the cops here well most of them try to find something to fuck with you for. Especially in the towns around Sac.
