Yeah bro just ask them if they can cut the glass down an inch for you that will translate alot better for the receptionist that dont know alot about custom stuff just that shes answering a phone.

My glass guy charged me about 200, but i here 200-500 to cut a windshield window down.

Ive had about 5 windshield cut down for me in the last year, and even went through a "reputable" glass shop in my area. Each time i went through at least 2 windsheilds. The problem with these places is they will not stand behind their work. If they break it, you buy, not them. Lexan is a good choice, if your not gonna drive it AT ALL. If you wanna dive it, find someone that can cut the stock gass at whatever the cost is, it will be worth it, i know.

As far as saftey. Isn't nascar windshields lexan? As for cold winters, good point of it breaking or cracking? You don't use windex and a sunday newspaper to clean lexan either. You polish it.

prolly but there not designed to protect drivers... they are there for asthetics and weight reduction. Racing parts are not generally good for street apps.

i dont know where you are but there is a guy that has advertised in rod and customs magazine in the back on the 1/8 page ads. he is not cheap but he is the best i have ever seen. he has done it all those years and does everything. he can cut new door windows also. he has templates and he cuts side windows out of a windshield that has the same curve. there is a guy in pigeon forge aldo that told me at work he could do it. i work for a ford restoration parts company... i dont remember his name i think it was something king. his shop name was his name so i am sure there not a bunch of shops in pigeon forge or sevierville. do not go the plexi or lexan route. if you are patient you can also sand down glass with like 120 or so grit you have to move alot and be careful and support the glass very well. you can only do this on windshields not tempered glass. i have sanded windshields and it usually takes about 1 hour per 1/4". so there are ways around it. if you talk to a glass shop go to the shop and look for the oldest guy there and talk to him dont talk to the receptionist. you will never find a place that way. there is a place here in winston salem that cut glass for me twice. both times i had to buy two windshields cause the first broke. he was pretty good but that guy in conneticut is the shit. he was doing a chop top explorer 2002 model when i was up there last time. it took him one week to cut all new glass for it. he is amazing! sorry this is so long but i have been there and done the research.

found it, dale king at kings auto glass 45 years experience 423-587-5464. two more things i have never used this guy but he talks a good game. the guy in conneticut i have used and he has 30 years experience. the other thing is you need to use new glass when cutting it. do not try to use old glass they have alot more problems with it and most guys wont even try a used glass. the guy in winston salem who did it for me charged $20 labor but i had to by 2 windshields at %275 a piece each time. as for the guy in conneticut he charged $60 hourly.
