I'm thinking of buying one, but I was thinking.. this arent dot approved are they? say if i get in a wreck they could blame my windshield and id be screwed kinda? or are they?
i have a friend he runs one in is bodydrop yota the no top
I am an autoglass tech, the windshield in your truck is a very important safety feature. Expecially if you have a sunroof or a ragtop the windshield adds alot of rigidity, if you drive the truck on the road i would not replace glass with plexi. If your truck has airbags (safety kind) the windshield is there to deflect them in the right direction, if you have plexi the air bags would blow it out.
o, i'm thinking f goign topless but, i wanna shorter windshield, so what options do i have though? everyone i ask about cutting the glass, returns a question in how am i suppose to do that? anyone in here cut glass? if so how much to snib an inch or so off?
cutting a windshield down is not that hard for someone that knows how to do it..ask your glass shops...or a local hot rod shop
i have called the local glass ppl, they say they can get glass for anything, and i call and ask for some chop top glass they are like what are u talking bout i dunno anyone in this world that makes glass like that. i'm thinking, somewhere along the line of working she's missin some 5% of it iguess, not sure lol but what is a good price to get one cut? just labor, no shippin and stuff
THATS BECAUSE THEY DONT MAKE CHOP TOP GLASSit is CUsTom.
don't plan on having a lexan windshield if you live somewhere that sees snow. First time you go to scrape the snow or ice off, your going to scratch the lexan all to hell. It's good because it's strong but its bad because it's soft
^ good thing about lexan is that you can flame polish it in a matter of seconds.
fuck lexan...i had a back window in my yota and i hated it....like i said man..get in touch with local hot rod shops ..they WILL know someone who can cut your windshield
