Hey guys i'm in the process of SFBD my first gen truck and i'm getting to where i can put the cab back on and was wondering if i would have to cut my stock body bushings to ever make it set correctly. If not, would it be ok to change them out to some energy suspension bushings?

You should be able to re-use the old ones...Is it not lining up with the hole correctly?

ya they will line up and all. The rear ones are worn out pretty badly and sagged so i wanted to replace them but only if i didn't have to cut them

I replaced all of mine when i did my stock floor. I went with brand new factory ones though.
Just don't cut them with a cut off wheel. Burning rubber smells like crap and makes everyone think that the garage is on fire from the smoke.

replace them!!!!!! just do it. im doing it on mine even after ive been driving it for three years with stock ones because some replacement ones will give you a better ride etc. just replace them if your even questioning them. stock ones will work but if they are kinda worn.. replace em now. i got some from summit and two days later they were at my door.

i was just wondering if the bushing was thick enough to keep the body from laying flat when aired out that's all. I've seen some threads about people cutting them in half and was just wondering if i would have to
Also if i just use standard bushing will i have to raise my floor pans more?

If you set the body drop up to use the stock bushings then you dont need to cut them. When you relocated your body mounts you should have taken into account the bushing size too. Doesnt matter if you use stock bushings or if you make custom tube mounts with thin urethane bushings. The thicker the bushing you can utilize, the better the overall ride will be. You wont have vibrations being transmitted through the frame into your cab.

yea i plan on putting the body mounts as low as possible. What i was getting at would there be enough room to fit them under there and the body hang down even with the frame. But thanks for all the help i'll just order me a new energy suspension set now
