Cool Mike, Yeah, i've been sending you some emails & left a voice mail monday night about seeing if you released that yet. I spoke w/ you in Nov. & you thought it would be out near the new year. I'd be interested in that. If you don't have one soon though, I might just section my stock one for now, (get it to lay flat) & Z it next year (to lay body). I want to drive it around this year to ITB & showfest!

Im trying to decide if it would be worth my time to fab these from scratch. im looking at materials and build cost, vs. doing stock crossmembers.
I have one cut now and im about to grind it and plate it back together.

i tried this week to find a spare stock one from a few junk yards around here so i could section it down & then just take the old one out & put this one in. (if i messed it up i'd have a spare)
But local junk yards want 200 for it. I don't think that's worth it, i'll just take mine out and IF i mess it up then i can consider buying a junk yard one.
Does that X-member just UN-Bolt? it's an 82, so i'm sure it won't "just" unbolt, but you know what i mean.

Check your local buy/sell/swap type of paper and see if you can find a parts truck to raid the x-member off of. Sometimes people will part stuff out and you can usually score stuff for below wrecking yard cost. You may be able to find a whole truck cheap, score the x-member off of it and some other parts you probably need and either part out the rest out or cash it in for scrap metal to recoup some or all of the purchase price. A little off topic but food for thought anyways.

I still don't get how everyone thinks that zing the frame is easier....... the crossmember is much easier, and to get the difference to lay rocker, be creative and mess with the thick ass body mounts to get it down that little bit more. oh and SINICALWAYS, if you actually read the forum maybe you would've understood the relevence.........my 2 cents

i put it on a lift & checked it out this weekend. I think next week I'll take the Xmember out, Section it 1.5" & put it back in for now. I should't run into any problems that way. If I can't come up w/ a creative way to lower the body mounts & fenders an inch to lay pinch weld, then next year I'll Z it & go to the door. I just want to have it driveable-draggable for the national show season this year.
Thanks for the help everyone. Think a 10" notch will work ok? I haven't given the back any thought yet...
