Why I Hate Body Work!!!!

AHHHH!!! I'm so tired of doing body work. It seems that I can't do anything the correct way because everything I've done in the past 3 years has been trail and error and it's all been error. For some reason I can't grasp the Techniqu (spelling) or the hammer and dolly. ACTUALY I dont even have a hammer and a dolly I've been using a two sided rubber hammer. The problem is I started my project out shaving everything. Not having any previous training on how to weld. I became impatient and warped the metal. So then I had waves like a MOFO everywhere. so I though I could nock the high spots down with a hammer. Well that creats an engery gain in another location and the metal begin to rise somewhere else. WHAT THE HELL!

So my point of discussion is... DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD HOW-TO DVD OR SUCH!? I've purchased a painting book a year ago and did nothing for me because is told me no useful information. So someone please help me out here.

the only way you learn how to form metal is by ruining alot of nice shit. sometimes learning what not to do is just as important as everything else.

the high spots can be taken down ALITTLE by a trick i call "Heat it and beat it"heat it up with a cutting torch to where it gets a rell almost burgundy red then hit it with a hammer litely, i.e as you heat up metal it expands as you hit it and it cools it contracts, ive did this a couple of times .

Yeah I've had that moto in my head for 3 years but I've detroyed a 4,000 car and left it with several gallons of duraglass and rage gold. Not how I want my next project to turn out. So I would like to see the right ways insted of continueing the wrong

yeah I realized that and I figured that I will leave the body work to someone else. I'm going to keep performing the easy tasks such as shaved door handles and tailgate handles but I can't do such a large project because I have not the patience

Sounds like you need a shrinking hammer and some patients when your welding. It takes a while to grasp, but it sounds like you are beginnig to figure it out. I would say if you are really intrested in doing your own work to save money then stick with it, but if you dont care about that I would just leave it to the pros

man if you get mad at it walk away, drink a beer smoke a cig,iam the same way when it comes to cars,i wanna do it quick and easy, but ive learned that without patience, you spend a lot more money fixing the problem that you got to INpatience with and messed something up on.so take a chill pill and take yo time,my

check out this book. click here best $15.00 youll ever spend if you wanna get good at hammer and dolly. also, pick up a hammer and dolly set. not rubber mallets. even if you have a cheap set, its better than the wrong tool all together.
