anyone ever tried one one of these benders?

Like Cris said, that isn't a mandrel bender. Wheres the mandrel? Another interesting thing going around is a debate that the use of mandrel bends should be limited to fluid (exhaust ect.) since it is a consistant ID and normal unkinked bends for structural because in order to get the tube ID the same all the way through you actually make the outside of the bend a thinner wall. Kinda interesting.

my buddy built a sweet bender from some plans for about 200 bux that uses a pneumatic bottle jack. the only downside to this and the jd squared type benders is the expensive dies.

you should read the entire thread first before you reply. Im not buying the bender....nor was i ever asking about what bender i should be using, i allready know what the good benders are, and have one to use untill i can afford to throw down the loot for the one i want.

I found one in my parents garage, and was curious as to what they were good for.

oh yea i also used this bender to bend more than DOM i did this setup with the same bender, its 1" id sched 40 (its safe to use) so it has about an 1/8" wall. bend ok, just will start to flatten if its bent anymore than i did.

that funny, what a jackass... gettin all worked up and typing in all caps and he didn't even read it, WTF. some people should just be banned from the internet

anyway.... i used the same bender to do my old rear setup, works pretty good for gradual bends, but no 90s will ever turn out nicely from that thing. depending on the pipe your useing depends on your results. i know mine pinch'd the bends just slightly but nothing to noticable, but the lil black things at the ends put nice dents in the top of the pipe about 6 inchs away from the bend at each side. so for you application, it'll do just fine for lil jobs and odds n ends stuff.... but don't go building a tube chassis with one of them bad boys, have fun

I tried to use the bender that your asking about I couldent get it to do what i wanted and kept kinking tubing

hmmmm,.....so there good for small radius bends you say,with 3/16" and up wall thickness,right,i tried it on a 90 degree that kinked it,haven't used it since,but the JD model is good for 90 degree angles and what not right?my prolblem also with them they left dents at the end like you where saying doug,is there like a bending lube you can buy to where it won't dent the ends?
