It has come to my attention there is a problem with the SMC air filter

that comes in the kit.Looks like this,

What I need you to do right now is go out and look at your trap for a

part number. It will look like this on the case,

What you are looking for on your model number is this,If yours reads EXACTLY like this,

AFM40-NO4-Z

STOP using your EDC right now.Your filters IN and OUT ports are reversed.Below is what the inside of that filter looks like,

See how the incoming water and oil are pressed to the inside of the

filter element? What this does is the oil/water has no where to go so it will clog up the

air passage to a point of hydro lock. This after extended use can build

EXTENSIVE pressure in the line although your gauge will read as little as

110PSI the line between the trap and the EDC will be s high as 550PSI at

this point you will either snap a rod seize the compressor blow the line

blow a head bolt or worse cause serious damage to yourself or truck.

The proper orientation for this filter should look like this,

With the oil and water going to the bowl and the clean air going out to

the tank.

Good news there is a simple fix,

Simply remove your filter flip it around so the port that says IN is now

your

After talking with SMC ALL AFM Filters and AF filters are setup wrong. So please look at the inside of your filter, if you see this on the IN port,

and this inside,

You filter is in WRONG, and needs flipped around.

any questions please E-mail me djd@landisusa.com

i checked mine again and the IN port looks like a cylinder inside the same color and material as the rest of the water trap, the OUT port has that brass looking threaded bolt seen in your pictures....so im assuming that mine is setup correctly.....

Mine is the same part Number AF40-NO4-Z and the IN port it has a Cylinder lookin deal, and on the OUT port it has a brass looking threaded rod. So that is the way it should be, right?

Is yours a "AF40-NO4-Z "

or a "AFM40-NO4-Z " The wrong model has a 'M' after the 'AF'

Thanks.
