Hey guys i have a 1987 Jeep wrangler.. I am wanting to flip the leaf springs to over axle .. What sux is they dont make a kit for it.. So i was wondering if i take 2x2x1/4" Tubing and cut out notches for the axle and weld it to the axle and use that as my leaf spring pads would that work out right?
I DID THAT ON MY SAMURAI...I JUST BOUGHT SOME NEW SPRING PERCHES FROM A SUZUKI VENDOR. YOU CAN GO TO ANY 4X4 SHOP AND THEY SHOULD HAVE SPRING PERCHES FOR SALE.
YOU COULD ALSO DO IT THE WAY YOUR TALKIN ABOUT BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE THICK WALL MATERIAL OR IT WILL FOLD OVER ON YOU. MAKE SURE YOU DONT MAKE IT VERY TALL EITHER.
1/4" Thick is plenty enough
got to a trailor supply and youll be able to buy axle saddles for like 3 bux a piece
Would a tractor supply store have bout the same stuff as a trailor store?
this is sprung over you can get the perches at a 4x4 shop make sure you flip the centering pin on the leaf spring over to and set your pinion angle then weld the perches in you will need longer u bolts and brake lines and to do it right you really need to do a high steer kit in the front so the steering dont bind up when you turn check out pirate4x4.com for more info hope this helps you will also need to modify your transfer case with slip yoke elimator because of the pinion angle..
