Ok everyone I have a '98 tacoma with a 2.4liter 4-banger(5-speed if it matters) and my stock gas tank is leaking now(fu*k you Interstate 15). I've looked at jegs.com & summitracing.com and fuel cells are very affordable but what should I look forward to replacing? I.E. fuel pump, fuel sending unit(probably same thing, I'm dumb at some parts),etc? A good 20 gallon fuel cell cost around $200. what should I expect for additional parts?any help will be greatly appreciated!

i havent really looked lately but check EBAY too, i remember lookin on there a while back and found a TON of em and there were alot of actual manufacturers selling em so making one to your specific vehicle could probably be very easily done at a really good price, just a thought, like I said it was a while back but i cant see it changing very much

get a kick ass one built that uses the stock sending unit, i think its www.aluminumfuelcell.com, i think they are alittle bit more than 200 bux, but expect to need a high pressure fuel pump, new lines, fittings, maybe a regulator, then you gotta figure out what to do for a gauge, then there will be other misc things im forgetting, so that 200 dollar fuel cell will double with all thats needed to get it runnin.

so the one that uses the stock sending unit would be better since you dont need all that extra stuff.

so basically if you get one that is the same depth as your stock tank, you can use your stock sending unit and your stock pump. you might have to enlarge the opening for it all, or make a filler piece for it to fit in, but if you get one the same depth as yours at you location, you will be good?

is this what you are saying cris?

use the stock sending unit and have one made or find one thats the same depth. you will certainly need to make a adapter plate or have one made.

not funny using my shop name in your subject line either.

From my research, I have an 02 Taco, all you need to find is a cell that is about 10" deep. That is perfect height for the stock sending unit. Extend the lines, do away with all the evap crap and you are good to go. Now, I am having problems finding just the cell I want, so I will have one built. All you need to do if you get one from jegs is cut the hole for the stock sendint unit, and cap the other fittings that are already existing on the cell you buy, or have one made. Good Luck!!
