this has turned into a great post, but whats even more cool is nobody is being ignorant about it. but just wanted to mention about the comment about ignorant people at shows, yeah i totally agree your going to meet those bull$hiters that dont know d!ck, but i think we all have been ignorant at one time or another, i know when i started out (god im old, ha) but i didnt have the slightest clue but learned alot along the way. also i think we overlook meeting that 1 bull$hiter at a show to the hand fulls of cool people we meet! no matter what kinda show your at, your always going to have your negative experiences and positive experiences. so the glass isnt always half empty!

also, i cant help but agree again with if its a hobby, your going to be throwing money away in it. sure there are times we might save money, make money, but there are also times we're gonna lose it as well. i personally get way more out of these scene then a dollar in my pocket.

on an ending note, mark your truck makes me drewl man, that thing is for sure bada$$!

i've always been into old iron mainly because that's what i grew up around,my dad always had something cool when i was young.i got into mini's because i think they are a modern day version of the old hot rods & kustoms from the 50's & 60's & it seems like a natural progression as we get older our tastes in vehicles changes.i've always wanted on old sled or custom & i got a great opportunity to pick up a 60 buick for a good price & honestly now that i have my buick i don't ever see myself getting in to a late model project again.this is where all my extra time & $$$ go now

I have personally ALWAYS loved old cars. And really, it doesn't stop at cars, I love old shit in general. Brick buildings that coolapsed and just look aged are so bad ass, old tools, old everything, other than ladies. Nothing has the style and attitude like pre 70 cars, and 1900 era buildings and all that.

I got my 72 cuz the body lines when it's layed out. They are purely bad ass.

I also enjoy the old school stuff because theres only so much you can learn with a rust free truck with low miles. I love tearing into shit I have nooooo clue about and actually learning something new about how it works, why it works, how to fix it, and all that.

i dont know about you guys and the people you meet, but lately i have met some bad ass people at shows and locally here too. we had a blast with some guys from north alabama at STC, the night would have been dry as hell without them.

as for draggin, it seems like lately that everyone is like anti draggin and shit, whats with that?? i know the level of build quality has stepped up but I will ALWAYS be down to atleast see some draggin and hopefully i can lay some down in the ford myself sometime soon.

but for real i love seein those old school layed out, or atleast slammed static. nothing better than tuckin a white wall on a sled!

Na Mark not really agry but I can see how it comes off like that lol ... Im just totally burnt out on minitrucks and about 75% of people surrounding it.Im know there are good guys left in this sport but they are far and few between unlike the years ago. I think its the newer generation that have gotten involved. No more is it all about just a bunch of guys building trucks that are an extension of thier being....which is basically how Ive always been on everything.

Now its "hey i need to pal up with this dude cause i can get anything i need done by him on the cheap or fre if he is a firend" or "Im gonna ride the coattails of these guys so maybe i can be in the higher level with them, just have to sell myself out"...

then now every dusche opens a shop and screws up peoples rides..... people will sell themselves out for anything that will benifit them...... people run thier mouths nonstop either negativity towards others to make themselves feel a lil better and then others do it just to try and make people think they are soemthing thier not. The younger guys (for the most part) think destroying shit at a show and hotel makes them cool..... then the stupidity draggin cause they think if i cant take my tme and build something for me, I'll build a deathtrap just for draggin cause its faster & cheaper and then I'll get my attention whore fix that way...... it goes on and on

for the things I personally think is wrong with the sport now ..... some of it is from Im 31 now and have grown up alot more but i also know the other part is things in this sport have basically been summed up by things mentioned above cause thats in a nutshell every single person Ive met i nthis sport in the last 5 years or more. With the exception of just a few that i can count on one hand and still have a few fingers left even (sad in my opinion).

Personally I avoid at all cost letting anyone know anything I d cause Im so sick of every person I meet all of a sudden wanting to make me thier new best friend in order to just in-act thier plan later of "hey i can get something outta this dude if i make him my friend" ... cause like i said in his sport everybody is wanting something out of your ass just to get them a lil farther.

Just like me & a friend of mine, we are both guys that like to keep quiet bout our stuff and what we do, and always laugh bout how playin stupid and acting like your a dumbass that doesnt own nothing or know how to build anything at all is the key to staying sane..... cuase same shit happens to him also.

Yet when someone came to check out one of his projects for sale yesterday to buy it....immediately they were like "oh shit, you got all this stuff and can do all this, and no one knows about it"....lol

Anyways Ive wrote enough of a novel ad sucks none of its positive ....so i will end on a good note on something I's like to say..... Mark Ive followed your build on the truck on here and have got to say I love it and youve done a beautiful job on it and I give much props to the quality wok and level build youve done.Clean through and through and immaculate.Beautful work man and extremely impressed!

Sorry to anyone Ive offended on this topic and for not keeping it evactly on topic & i just call it like i see it and sometimes can be a jerk as well....but couldnt help calling it bascially "it is what it is"

can i get an Amen?

well said...

i can agree with what matt said as well (wont let me quote that shit for some reason??) but I think a lot of guys want to know the guys that do this shit for a living because it's always good to have someone you can call up for some help or a hand with things that you can really trust with your shit. A lot of times you get a friend to help that doesn't know how to change a tire, ya know?

Then I can also see where hes coming from with "the user" style guys. Wanting something for nothing. But not telling people you talents in fear of that, seems a little paranoid or whatever.

I really think the crazy shit is starting to sorta dwindle down to the level it needs to be. Scrapin got crazy but it didn't seem like people were being retarded, just having a blast watchin trucks drag and shit.

I think everyone sorta realized it got far too much like a frat party with nice rides instead of nice rides and a party to celebrate the scene. I think the scene is getting back to what you older guys want it to be.

We need to get some more old school rides in here though, those things are killer, and always sets off another aspect of the scene at shows. I love seeing these big bearded rod guys starin inside a new mini or fullsize just droolin over the work done.
