I personally say it doesn't matter. I bought my truck already bagged with some minor interior work done. I bought it cheaper than I could have bought one stock and then would have had to pay someone to bag it. It just seemed to make more sense to me to buy one bagged and save money to spend on other things to make it mine. This is my first bagged truck so I had no clue how to do anything myself. Granted when the truck is done the original owner won't even know it was his. So I guess mine was bought and then built to please me. I really don't think it matters, I just want to see the scene grow and hopefully inspire some guy like me who was never into the scene before to get into it.

theres nothing wrong with buying other peoples truck ive been in the minitruckin scene for 16 yrs now and never gonna change you will always have people sayin bought not built , id rather see a 10 bought trucks that are nice at a show than 1000 built trucks cause the majority of guys that try to build their trucks to just drag now,and not really care how the rest of it looks .Look at our scene now look at the heaps their putting in the magazine cause all anybody cares about it draggin,,ya draggins cool but if your draggin a p.o.s you the hell cares its just another p.o.s draggin wow! show some class finish get off your ass and actually finish ur project and make it nice or the whole scene is just gonna die and take every good show with it.and another thing get ur asses out to shows cause looking at the coverage on anywebsite doesnt compare 1 bit to actually being there..
I would buy something before i started from scratch, not b/c I cant do all the work b/c I can and have before.. basicly i do not have all the tools and a shop right now. but also im not 18 anymore and i can not spend my entire paycheck on the ride.. SOOO buy a feature truck for 8-10k, let them loose about 30k on the deal, turn around anc change it up to my likings and BAM..
built not bought
I was always into minitrucking, but didn't start showing until after buying a bagged but otherwise pretty stock truck. I don't have to tools or space to work on projects, and only limited skills, so I dumped money I worked hard for and had it built to my specs. But I decided what would get done and how.
And for built not bought..... I would rather buy quality than build crap. People outside minitrucking don't look down on us for the quality trucks that get bought they look down on us because of the crap some "builders" put on the streets.

Buying the tools to build your own truck is almost as expensive as building the truck. Most don't have the tools or the space to build there own trucks. Plus spend $30,000 on a new truck and drop it off at a shop and pay 15,000 to make it show worthy, when you can pay between $20 and $30 for somebody else's $60,000 show truck. It happens all the time. That's why I will never sell a truck I work on for myself. You never get your time and money back out of it. If it payed for why not just keep it and use it to pick up bitches at the club. That's my plans. LOL Me, I will never buy a completed truck either. I like to tear into them to much.

why do people take....buy....someone elses truck and turn around try to show it......if u are capable of building your own then why dont you....(cover truck)......built not bought...not trying to be negative by no means but you get so much mor satifaction doing it yourself....i know this will bring negative post to me but i was just curious...and if you do buy someone elses ride atleast change it up somehow
its cheaper to buy someoneelse's truck already bagged and body dropped if i ever do it again i will buy one already bagged and body dropped and maybe even shaved to save time and money. mostly money... also almost every truck these days are bagged and bodydrop. so i would just throw my paint sceme on it and wheels and interior and then it would be my design.... so i would just be smarter than the rest.thats the way i look at it.
Uncle fest I think you fall into the search and rescue category when it come to "Last Look". That's a piece of history and needed to be saved. You didn't buy a show truck, you saved a show truck.
My Isuzu was built by RAW about 4 or 5 years ago. It has been through a couple of owners who have messed it up royal, plus the damn thing caught on fire about 4 months ago. When people ask about the truck I tell them that I bought it already bd. I give credit to the people who did the work. I take credit for the stuff I did which was redoing the whole bag setup and now working on the interior and the bed. If I did not buy the truck already bd I would never have the time, money, or knowledge to do it. If you give people credit for what they have done that is all that matters!
thats for sure every one is entitled to their own opinion but you do get more satisfaction doing it your self, and getting buddies to help you thats what its all about us mini's have to stick together even if that means building our buddies rides or at least most of it, but thats just my 2 cents.. take it or leave it..
