Hey guys.. need your help so I can start practicing tonight. A friend of mine just sold me a gas or no gas 90 amp Century MIG welder. I know its nothing specail but I got a good deal and for a beginner it should work fine. My problem is that he told me to try to find it online (Googled) and I couldnt find the century website or info on the welder.

Can someone please tell me how I switch it from gas to no gas? It's currently set on gas and I plan to use flux core (he has a full spool and it'll be fine to practice with) and need to switch it over to no gas.

Thanks guys!

Disconnect the bottle and switch the polarity from + to - on the cables. Put the + for the ground and the - to the welding lead. Most machines are like this. I in the past never had problems doing this or even running it + -. Right now your ground lead (clamp) is - switch it inside to the + and vise versa. Have any question just hit me up

Sean,
Thanks for the quick reply. I like in Maryville and would love to check out your shop one day. I know tate fairly well and really like the revamp of the blazer so far.

Quick question about the welder. Their is no bottle hooked up, but he said that it was setup for gas. I will look inside and i'm sure I'll see where to switch it, but you said right now its either negative or positive? I need to know when you make it either negative or positive so I make sure when I look at it I don't mess up. Anotherwords, if he's right and it is setup for gas right now, is the grounding clamp going to be a negative or positive?

Thanks a lot! I will post pictures of my first time welding experience tommorrow (It will be sad)

Right now if it is set up for gas the clamp should be negative. Is there a hose or regulator with the machine?

Sean,

Nope the only thing that came with it was the welder (which ofcourse had the grounding clamp and welding gun) a brand new spool of .30 wire and a box of .30 tips

Thanks for the input and ill see what i figure out after work when i head down to the shop
